The EU SatCom Market serves as the European Union’s procurement catalogue for satellite communications and Communication and Information System (CIS) services. It offers member states efficient access to commercially available solutions, with Satcube securing the contract through Telespazio France, the current awardee of the EU SatCom Market Framework Contract under the European Defence Agency (EDA).
Satcube has been gaining traction with its Satcube Ku terminal, a lightweight and user-friendly ground terminal that addresses the growing demand for reliable connectivity. The company recently announced plans for a new high-production facility in Karlstad, Sweden, which aligns with the increasing demand for its products.
“We have built a dependency on internet connections, but we have made them quite vulnerable,” said Jakob Kallmér, Chief Executive Officer at Satcube. “In the event of a natural disaster or a major cyberattack by a foreign power, it could quickly lead to chaos. Already today, we get requests from critical governmental and non-governmental organisations to use our system as a backup, and this order is the confirmation that the need is here.”
Robert Mellberg, Satcube’s Chief Commercial Officer, also emphasised the importance of the order. “We are excited to have received yet another major order, this time via the EU SatCom Market,” he said. “The global communications landscape is evolving rapidly, and we are proud to be able to support European nations with their critical communications needs.”
