This strategic acquisition aligns with Eurenco’s goals to diversify its innovation capabilities and strengthen its ballistic engineering offerings. The addition of Thiot Ingénierie will enhance Eurenco’s expertise in impact physics, particularly in hypervelocity impact testing and the simulation of material behaviour under extreme conditions.
Based in Puybrun, near Brive-la-Gaillarde, Thiot Ingénierie operates in three core areas: supplying special machinery for artillery and tank tube autofrettage, producing high-speed impact testing equipment, and providing expertise in material behaviour under impact through testing and simulations. The company is renowned for its niche technologies and has a strong export presence, with 70% of its sales generated internationally.
The company’s clientele includes major industry players such as Airbus, Hyundai, Leonardo, the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), MBDA, Junghans, and Safran. Notably, 75% of its business is in the defence sector, making it a strategic fit for Eurenco’s growth ambitions in advanced technologies for defence, aerospace, and security.
Thierry Francou, Chairman and CEO of the Eurenco Group, welcomed Thiot Ingénierie, emphasising the importance of the acquisition in consolidating Eurenco’s leadership in energetic materials. “This strategic acquisition reflects our commitment to innovate and strengthen our skills in critical technologies for our customers,” he said.
Patrick Thiot, Founder and Chairman of Thiot Ingénierie, highlighted the synergies between the two companies. He expressed confidence in the acquisition, stating, “We are proud to be joining the Eurenco Group, which will secure the long-term future of Thiot Ingénierie through sustained research in pyrotechnics and shock physics.”
