The ATLAS25 exercise, organised by the Army’s Maneuver Support Command (MAM) and led by the 71st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment, was one of the most ambitious in Spain in recent years. Under the leadership of the Defence Staff (EMAD), Spanish Forces tested their capabilities to neutralise aerial attacks, assess new technologies and evaluate the maturity of systems developed by the national defence industry.
Indra deployed systems both aboard Navy combat vessels and on the ground, demonstrating its capacity to address challenges in multi-domain operations. Its naval counter-drone system, CROW, equipped with radar and electronic defence systems, collected critical data that was integrated with information gathered by ground-based systems through the company’s command and control solution.
On land, Indra presented its ARACNE counter-drone system, developed in collaboration with EM&E Group, which will be delivered to the Army before the end of the year. The system’s command and control component excelled in fusing data from multiple sensors—both proprietary and third-party—accurately identifying threats and selecting the most suitable response in each situation.
Among the proprietary sensors used during the exercises was the Nemus radar, a compact AESA radar designed by Indra for tactical applications such as counter-drone operations. These systems reflect Indra’s leading role in developing technologies that could accelerate the implementation of a future European anti-drone defence network.
Indra is one of Europe’s foremost manufacturers of air defence radars, offering long, medium and short-range systems that can be fixed, deployable or mobile to evade enemy fire. Its radar technologies are complemented by space object detection systems capable of identifying ballistic missile threats and are integrated within the company’s Airdef command and control system and the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Operations Center (COAAAS), currently in service with the Spanish Army.
Together, these assets position Indra as one of the most advanced companies in Europe in the field of counter-UAS defence. The company’s participation in ATLAS25 underlines its technological leadership and commitment to strengthening Spain’s and Europe’s strategic air defence capabilities.
