Write a news/press article (with a title for 90-95 characters) in British English (article must be: clear, simply, neutral, informative, factfully, insightful, well structured - two sentences for one paragraph) based on this statement published by the Italian defence company Leonardo (incorporate the original quotes of persons from the input article), be very accurate and write the article in line with the provided input, do not create anything from yourself! Your article must by 100 per cent in line with the provided input but original as well. Do not use bullet points in the article. When you place the quoetes ot indivuduals, they must be 100 perc cent accurate, literally accurate with the provided input. Leonardo: Cingolani presents "Michelangelo - The Security Dome" Leonardo unveiled “Michelangelo Dome” at the Officine Farneto in Rome, introducing a new, advanced integrated defence system designed to counter emerging threats in an increasingly complex global landscape. The project, developed to protect critical infrastructure, sensitive urban areas, territories and assets of national and European interest, through a modular, open, scalable and multi-domain solution, forms part of Leonardo’s broader strategy to consolidate its position as a leading player in the field of Global Security. “With Michelangelo,” said Roberto Cingolani, Leonardo’s Chief Executive Officer and General Manager, “Leonardo reaffirms its commitment to developing solutions that safeguard citizens, institutions, and infrastructure by combining advanced technology, a systemic vision, and strong industrial capabilities. In a world where threats evolve rapidly and become ever more complex - and where defending is costlier than attacking - defence must innovate, anticipate, and embrace international cooperation.” Michelangelo Dome is not a standalone system, but a comprehensive architecture that brings together next-generation land, naval, air, and space sensors, cyber-defence platforms, command-and-control systems, artificial intelligence, and coordinated effectors. The platform creates a dynamic security dome capable of detecting, tracking and neutralizing threats even in the event of large-scale, coordinated attacks, across all operational domains: aerial and missile threats - including hypersonic missiles and drone swarms - surface and subsurface attacks at sea, and hostile ground forces. Thanks to advanced data fusion from multiple sensors and the use of predictive algorithms, Michelangelo can anticipate hostile activity, optimize operational responses, and automatically coordinate the most effective countermeasures. With Michelangelo, Leonardo strengthens its role as a European benchmark in multi-domain security and contributes to the goals of strategic autonomy, technological resilience, and greater integration of European and NATO defence capabilities. The initiative aligns with wider continental cooperation programs and aims to further enhance Italy’s industrial excellence.

Leonardo has presented its new “Michelangelo Dome” system in Rome, describing it as an integrated defence architecture designed to counter emerging threats in an increasingly complex global environment. The unveiling at Officine Farneto marks part of the company’s strategy to reinforce its position in Global Security.

In a world where threats evolve rapidly and become ever more complex – and where defending is costlier than attacking – defence must innovate, anticipate, and embrace international cooperation.”

The system is designed to protect critical infrastructure, sensitive urban areas, and assets of national and European interest through a modular, open, scalable and multi-domain approach. Leonardo describes Michelangelo Dome not as a standalone product but as an architecture that integrates next-generation land, naval, air and space sensors with cyber defence platforms, command-and-control systems, artificial intelligence, and coordinated effectors.

The platform creates a security dome intended to detect, track and neutralise threats even during large-scale and coordinated attacks across multiple operational domains. These include aerial and missile threats, such as hypersonic weapons and drone swarms, as well as surface and subsurface threats at sea and hostile forces on land.

Leonardo states that advanced data fusion and predictive algorithms allow Michelangelo to anticipate hostile activity, streamline operational responses, and automatically align the most suitable countermeasures. The company says the system is built to support strategic autonomy, technological resilience, and closer integration of European and NATO defence capabilities.

Through Michelangelo, Leonardo aims to consolidate its role as a European reference point in multi-domain security while contributing to broader cooperative initiatives across the continent. The project is positioned to reinforce Italy’s industrial strengths within the defence and security sector.
