Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has signed a contract with the Danish government to supply the Naval Strike Missile Coastal Defence System. The agreement, valued at more than EUR 100 million, will provide Denmark with what Kongsberg describes as the most modern coastal artillery system currently available.

“The acquisition will enable Denmark to combat modern naval threats from the land and will strengthen the country’s operational capabilities,” said Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace. He added that “it will help increase the NSM CDS’ overall presence from the Baltic Sea to the North Sea”.

The coastal defence system includes Kongsberg’s fire control system, the NSM missile and launch pads, and follows an earlier Danish contract for NSM missiles for its frigates. “Denmark’s choice confirms NSM CDS’s position as the leading land-based and mobile coastal artillery solution for NATO allies,” said Kjetil R. Myhra, Executive Vice President Defence Systems at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
