Electro Optic Systems Defense Systems USA has been awarded a contract to supply Remote Weapon Systems for integration on a major U.S. Army ground combat platform. The award covers delivery to a prime contractor supporting the Army’s vehicle programme.

The multi-year agreement was signed with General Dynamics Land Systems and includes RWS hardware, development, spare parts and training. The initial award is valued at approximately US$22 million and is expected to lead to a signed contract before the end of the year.

Work under the contract will be carried out over the next two to three years, with future production activities anticipated to continue beyond 2030. EOS stated that the programme reflects a long-term production opportunity linked to a major Army platform.

The company will deliver an enhanced Remote Weapon System designed to meet specific U.S. Army operational requirements. Manufacturing will take place at EOS’ facility in Huntsville, Alabama, strengthening its industrial footprint in the United States.

“This award will have a significant impact on EOS’ operations in the U.S.,” said Shawn Baerlocher, CEO of EOS. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to support a major prime and deliver this technology to the Army.”

EOS said the contract highlights its position as a leading global supplier of advanced weapon system technology. The company’s Remote Weapon Systems are in service with armed forces across multiple regions worldwide, with more than 2,500 systems delivered to date.
