The Euro Defence Expo (EUDEX) is set to begin the 2026 trade fair year with strong momentum, with more than 250 exhibitors expected at its first edition from 22 to 25 September at Messe Essen in Germany. Running in parallel with Security Essen, the new format will together host over 800 exhibitors, forming Europe’s first integrated platform that brings military and civil security technologies together at one venue.

According to Oliver P. Kuhrt, CEO of Messe Essen, “With the combination of EUDEX and Security Essen, we have developed a platform that reflects the realities and requirements of modern security architecture. Military and civil security are inseparably linked today – and that is exactly what we are showcasing.” This joint concept offers exhibitors access to senior decision-makers from both sectors, a wider professional audience, and new business opportunities.

EUDEX’s core distinguishing feature is its total defence approach, which reflects current strategic needs across all areas of security. Topics range from cybersecurity and critical infrastructure protection to traditional national defence, bringing all dimensions together under one holistic concept.

The event is aimed at a high-level professional audience, including representatives from defence ministries, procurement bodies, the German Armed Forces, allied armed forces, and police and security authorities. Its international focus is underlined by expected delegations from more than 30 countries and the simultaneous annual conference of the Joint Air Power Competence Centre, which will bring over 400 senior military representatives from NATO and partner nations to Essen.

Industry interest in the new platform is strong, with registrations from established system providers, start-ups, and international groups such as Heckler & Koch, Munk Group, Scania, Nokia, Fokker, Vincorion, and BwConsulting. Project manager Julia Jacob advises interested companies to register promptly, stating: “The premiere of EUDEX offers not only established defence technology companies a strong platform, but also companies that intend to focus more strongly on military and defence-related fields of application in the future. Especially in a changing security environment, this opens up new potential for exchange, visibility, and business development.”
