The Danish Armed Forces are strengthening their presence in Greenland and the North Atlantic through the ongoing Exercise Arctic Endurance, conducted with NATO Allies over much of the coming year. The exercise builds on an increased Danish military presence that began in 2025 and already included allied contributions.

According to the Danish Defence, the reinforced activities are driven by a changed security policy situation that places new demands on the defence of the Arctic and the North Atlantic. These developments require closer cooperation between Denmark and NATO partners to address emerging strategic challenges in the region.

Exercise Arctic Endurance continues to develop, with several NATO countries conducting initial planning visits to Greenland in the past week. Reconnaissance teams have assessed terrain, accommodation, transport, and logistical conditions, while planning continues both in Greenland and in participating nations.

Exercise activities are continuing this week as the main Danish force for this phase has arrived in Greenland. The initial phase includes selected NATO partners and is focused primarily in and around Nuuk and the Kangerlussuaq area.
