North American Aerospace Defense Command and the Continental U.S. NORAD Region will conduct Exercise FELIX HAWK, a live-fly air defense exercise, on January 29, 2026, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. PST in the greater Santa Clara area. Some aircraft involved in the exercise are expected to fly at about 6,000 feet and may be visible from the ground.

The exercise is designed to prepare NORAD to enforce the Federal Aviation Administration’s temporary flight restriction for Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026, and to respond to potential airspace violations. NORAD’s role supports broader security operations alongside interagency partners including the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations, and local law enforcement agencies.

Under CONR direction, participating aircraft will include F-15 fighter jets, U.S. Air Force C-17 transport aircraft, and Civil Air Patrol aircraft, with all operations carefully planned and controlled. FELIX HAWK is part of Operation NOBLE EAGLE, NORAD’s ongoing mission to maintain continuous vigilance and provide aerospace warning, aerospace control, and maritime warning for North America.
