Ukraine and NATO have agreed to focus their cooperation on strengthening air defence, deploying F-16 fighter jets, advancing Patriot systems and HIMARS, and maintaining a technological edge.

The priorities were discussed during a meeting between Ukraine’s Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, NATO Senior Representative in Ukraine Patrick Turner and Lieutenant General Curtis A. Buzzard, who leads NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine and the Security Assistance Group – Ukraine.

Fedorov thanked NATO for its sustained support and coordination of critical defence aid, including through the PURL initiative that supplies Ukraine with vital air defence ammunition. He said protecting the skies remains Ukraine’s top priority, driving efforts to transform the country’s lower-tier air defence capabilities.

The defence minister said Ukraine is sharing unique combat experience, real-time battlefield data and proven technological solutions with its partners. A separate line of cooperation will focus on coordination within the Ramstein format alongside Germany and the United Kingdom to speed up decisions and the delivery of needed assistance.
