Danish F-35 fighter jets have operated alongside U.S. and Canadian forces during Operation Noble Defender in the Arctic and the North Atlantic, according to the Danish Armed Forces. The annual operation is conducted by the North American Aerospace Defense Command to demonstrate and sustain air power under extreme climatic conditions.

Over the past two weeks, Danish F-35s deployed from Keflavík, Iceland, where they carried out air operations and surveillance around Iceland and over south-eastern Greenland. The deployment marked a central Danish contribution to the operation, underscoring the growing role of the F-35 in Arctic air defence tasks.

In support of the fighter missions, Denmark also contributed a Challenger aircraft for search and rescue duties from Kangerlussuaq, Greenland. This capability ensured coverage during U.S. and Canadian air operations conducted from Pituffik Space Base in northern Greenland.

The Danish F-35s were supported by a French MRTT aerial refuelling aircraft during longer sorties, while a Danish Challenger transport aircraft also operated from Iceland. The Danish Armed Forces said the operation provides valuable experience in international cooperation and reinforces Denmark’s ability to operate advanced fighter aircraft in demanding Arctic environments.
