“Michigan is the birthplace of modern manufacturing, and RENK’s investments in the state reinforce our position as a leader in the future of defense,” said Governor Whitmer. “These critical investments bring job opportunities that will help Michigan families thrive and strengthen America’s national security.”
“Let’s keep working together to strengthen our defense industry, create good-paying jobs, and build an economy that works for everyone,” Whitmer added.
“After meeting Governor Whitmer in Ann Arbor last year, I am honored to welcome her to RENK’s global headquarters and to reaffirm our commitment to serving as a trusted supplier to the U.S. military and allied forces,” said Dr. Alexander Sagel, CEO of RENK Group.
Sagel said the company is creating up to 270 new jobs in Michigan between 2024 and 2030 and continues to explore potential merger and acquisition opportunities in the state, reflecting confidence in Michigan’s workforce, industrial base and business environment.
RENK America and Horstman, the group’s two U.S. subsidiaries in Michigan, employ more than 540 workers at facilities in Muskegon, Sterling Heights and Roseville, and the expansion is set to strengthen those operations while supporting the state’s advanced manufacturing leadership.
Across the United States and globally, RENK is investing to reinforce the U.S. and allied defense industrial base and advance propulsion and mobility technologies for modern warfare, operating five wholly owned subsidiaries across Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and South Carolina with more than 700 U.S. employees delivering state-of-the-art manufacturing.
Headquartered in Augsburg, Germany, RENK Group AG manufactures mission-critical propulsion solutions for military and civil markets, reported revenue of EUR 1.14 billion in fiscal year 2024, has been listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since February 7, 2024, and has been a member of the MDAX since March 24, 2025.
