The contract builds on the customer’s participation in BlackSky’s Gen-3 early access program, which provides access to 35-centimeter resolution satellite imagery. According to the company, strong performance over the customer’s priority areas of interest helped drive the transition toward a larger annual subscription.
BlackSky said the agreement highlights momentum behind its “land-and-expand” strategy aimed at strengthening long-term customer relationships. Early access users are increasingly shifting toward recurring annual commitments as they integrate the system into operational workflows.
“Assured is more than access to capacity. It’s about guaranteed collection fulfillments that provide certainty for mission critical operations. Assured has become a foundational part of our customers’ daily tactical ISR activities,” said BlackSky Chief Executive Officer Brian O’Toole.
He added that the company is seeing broader adoption among international clients. “Annual, recurring commitments for Assured represent a positive, natural evolution as early access programs pivot into long-term customer relationships across our expanding international portfolio.”
The new agreement provides continued access to BlackSky’s dual-generation satellite architecture. The system combines the high-cadence revisit capability of the company’s Gen-2 satellites with the higher-resolution imagery produced by the newer Gen-3 spacecraft.
BlackSky said the architecture enables rapid collection of imagery while maintaining the accuracy required for mission-critical intelligence operations. The company continues expanding its Gen-3 constellation, with the fourth satellite recently delivering its first imagery only hours after launch.
According to the company, each Gen-3 satellite has consistently produced images with high clarity and uniform quality from the start of operations. The imagery is capable of identifying vehicles, maritime vessels, aircraft of different sizes and even individual people and their shadows.
The sharper imagery reduces uncertainty in analysis and supports the development of improved analytics products. BlackSky said the enhanced image quality enables stronger insights for end users conducting intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
The company is also leveraging its vertically integrated technology stack to meet global demand for space-based intelligence services. BlackSky combines satellite manufacturing, AI-driven software and analytics tools within a single operational system.
Customers can access the company’s constellation through On-Demand tasking or through Assured subscription services that guarantee collection capacity. BlackSky also offers the possibility of deploying full nationally sovereign systems for governments seeking dedicated intelligence capabilities.
