Indra has completed development and certification testing of its TSUB 40Ka satellite communications terminal for submarines. The system is designed to provide higher transmission speeds and improved operational capability for modern underwater platforms.

The terminal operates in the Ka band, enabling more compact antenna designs compared with traditional X or Ku band systems. Officials said this allows broadband communications on platforms with strict space limitations, such as submarines.

The use of Ka band technology combines military-grade robustness with enhanced connectivity performance. This approach is intended to deliver higher data transmission rates while maintaining compliance with military standards.

The TSUB 40Ka has been certified by HISDESAT for use with the SpainSat NG satellite system. The system integrates X, military Ka and UHF bands to provide secure, high-capacity communications based on sovereign infrastructure.

Officials said the new terminal responds to increasing demand for higher bandwidth communications in complex operational environments. It is designed to support government and military missions requiring reliable and secure connectivity.

The system enables submarines to access advanced satellite capabilities, improving resilience against interference, cyberattacks and adverse space conditions. It also expands secure communication options for operational deployments.

Indra said the development reflects its broader role as a technology partner in the naval sector. The company provides electronic warfare systems, radars, communications solutions and sensors used by advanced navies worldwide.

The TSUB 40Ka delivers user data rates exceeding 1 Mbps while maintaining compact system design. Officials said this capability strengthens submarine communications and supports future operational requirements.
