Hensoldt has opened a new service and innovation centre in Ukraine to enhance operational support and strengthen collaboration with local partners. The move follows extensive engagement in the region and reflects the company’s strategy of maintaining a direct presence close to operational environments.

The company said the decision was driven by the need to respond more effectively to real-world requirements. Establishing a permanent local presence is intended to improve coordination, prioritisation and problem-solving.

Hensoldt said the new hub will serve as a central point of contact for users and partners. It will operate in close proximity to ongoing operations and support immediate operational needs.

A key focus of the centre will be the coordination of services and training. The aim is to strengthen local capabilities and enable Ukrainian partners to operate, maintain and restore systems independently.

The company said it will consolidate training programmes and structure service processes. This approach is designed to ensure that expertise is delivered where it is most urgently required.

“Availability is key,” said Oliver Dörre. “It’s not just about delivering systems. It’s about keeping them operational. This requires local expertise, clear processes and close coordination.”

In addition to operational support, the centre will also focus on linking innovation with industrial implementation. Ukraine has emerged as a rapidly developing hub for defence innovation, driven by operational feedback and accelerated development cycles.

Hensoldt said the hub will act as a bridge between emerging technologies and established industrial systems. The goal is to combine innovation with scalable and integrated solutions.

“Ukraine demonstrates how quickly innovation can emerge under real-world conditions,” Dörre said. “Our task is to combine this speed with industrial scalability and system integration.”

The company said the initiative reflects its commitment to supporting Ukraine and its defence sector. The new centre is intended to enhance operational capability while reinforcing long-term cooperation with local industry and armed forces.
