Lockheed Martin has invested more than $7 billion to expand production capacity for key defense systems, including advanced air defense munitions. The investment is aimed at increasing output to meet growing demand from the United States and allied nations.

The company said the funding has been directed toward facilities, workforce development and supply chain expansion. Approximately $2 billion has been specifically allocated to accelerating munitions production.

The investment supports increased manufacturing of systems such as the PAC-3 MSE interceptor. This missile is used in air and missile defense operations and has been deployed in recent combat scenarios.

Lockheed Martin has also expanded its infrastructure with new facilities. These include the Munitions Acceleration Center and the Rapid Fielding Center, designed to support workforce training and streamline development and production processes.

Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, said the company is increasing production in response to national requirements. “We are answering the nation’s call with urgency and partnering with the DoW to accelerate PAC-3 MSE production faster than ever before,” he said.

“Our investments in our facilities, workforce and supply chain ensure we can deliver at scale and with speed,” Cahill added. He noted that the company is positioned to increase output significantly.

“With the right tools, proven processes and skilled employees in place, we are positioned to deliver a record number of munitions in support of the warfighter and our allies,” he said. The statement highlighted the company’s focus on operational readiness.

The investment aligns with broader efforts to increase production of critical defense systems. Lockheed Martin has entered agreements to expand output under the Department of War’s Acquisition Transformation Strategy.

These agreements include plans to triple production of PAC-3 MSE interceptors. Additional efforts aim to quadruple production capacity for systems such as the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense interceptor and Precision Strike Missile.

The company said its investments also support job creation across the United States. Workforce expansion includes roles in manufacturing, engineering and skilled trades.

Lockheed Martin said the expanded production capacity is intended to maintain strong munitions stockpiles. It also supports the ability of the United States and its allies to respond to evolving security challenges.
