The blockade will apply to all maritime traffic regardless of nationality. It will cover vessels operating in Iranian ports and coastal areas in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
CENTCOM stated the enforcement will be carried out impartially. The measure is intended to regulate access to Iranian maritime facilities under the directive.
The command emphasized that freedom of navigation will not be affected for certain routes. Vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports will be allowed to continue operations.
“CENTCOM forces will not impede freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports.” The statement highlights continued access to one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors.
Additional guidance will be issued to commercial shipping prior to the start of operations. Mariners are advised to follow official navigation notices and maintain communication with U.S. naval forces.
“All mariners are advised to monitor Notice to Mariners broadcasts and contact U.S. naval forces on bridge-to-bridge channel 16 when operating in the Gulf of Oman and Strait of Hormuz approaches.” The instruction underscores operational coordination measures during the blockade.
