The extension maintains the full scope of the existing contract. It covers engineering delivery and management for Type 23 frigates, amphibious warfare ships, Sandown minehunters and landing craft.
The work will continue to be delivered primarily from Babcock’s facilities at Devonport and Rosyth. These sites provide the industrial capacity and specialist workforce required to sustain operational readiness.
The contract supports critical capabilities for the Royal Navy. It is intended to ensure that surface vessels remain mission ready.
Phil Craig, Managing Director of Marine Programmes at Babcock, said: “This extension is a testament to the dedication and global expertise of the Babcock surface ship support teams across the entire Marine sector and is symbolic of our strong partnership with the MOD.”
He added: “Together with the Ministry of Defence, and other Surface Ship Support Alliance partners, we will build upon this FMSP extension to engage in the development of subsequent surface ship support contracts which deliver the Royal Navy’s needs in the future.”
The agreement reflects ongoing cooperation between Babcock and the Ministry of Defence. It also supports continuity in fleet maintenance and engineering services.
The extension is expected to contribute to future support arrangements. It provides a foundation for the development of subsequent surface ship support contracts aligned with Royal Navy requirements.
