AeroVironment and UAS Denmark sign agreement to strengthen drone capabilities in Europe

By Defence Industry Europe

AeroVironment, Inc. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hans Christian Andersen Airport in Odense, Denmark, home of the UAS Denmark Test Center. The agreement aims to use the centre’s extensive airspace and test facilities for AV’s uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) demonstrations, mission training, and customer integration across the region.

The collaboration is expected to support joint research and development activities and help expand the UAS Denmark Test Center as a regional hub for advanced UAS innovation and operational readiness. “This MOU represents a significant milestone in expanding AV’s operational footprint in Europe,” said Shane Hastings, AV’s vice president and general manager of Medium UAS.

“Our partnership with UAS Denmark positions us to deliver enhanced capabilities, mission-critical training, and integrated UAS solutions to allied defence forces and government stakeholders across the region,” Hastings added. The agreement follows AV’s February 2025 Framework Agreement with the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO).

Under that framework, AV is delivering advanced UAS systems, training for operators and maintainers, and long-term support to boost Denmark’s intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities. The new MOU builds on this relationship and further demonstrates AV’s commitment to providing scalable, combat-proven UAS platforms to allied nations.

By formalising this partnership, AV continues to grow its international presence and ensure that allied forces are equipped with the tools and training needed to operate effectively in complex environments.
