Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) has signed a Transfer of Technology and Knowledge (ToT) agreement with FAME, wherein both companies will establish an assembly and production line in Peru for the ARAD family of assault rifles.

Under the terms of the agreement, IWI will provide FAME with technological knowledge related to small arms assembly, advanced quality assurance, and maintenance processes. In the future, the companies will explore the potential for expanding production to include additional weapons and relevant optical sights for the defense and security forces of Peru.

“We are proud to have signed a cooperation agreement with FAME, further strengthening our presence in Peru and Latin America,” says Ronen Hamudot, Executive VP Marketing and Sales of the SK Group. “This initial step in our collaboration will create job opportunities in the country and is expected to expand in the coming years to include local production of various small arms from IWI, as well as other solutions from the SK Group, such as Meprolight’s day sights.”

“IWI is a world-leading company with decades of experience in the development, production, and marketing of small arms,” says Leoncio Noriega, Commercial Director of FAME. “This agreement aligns us with a partner that possesses rich experience and technological knowledge, which they will share with FAME, promoting the Military Industry of Peru. We are confident that the cooperation between our companies will be fruitful and long-lasting.”

According to IWI, the ARAD was designed to meet the requirements of Special Forces and various infantry forces. It incorporates several advanced features that enhance operational flexibility. The fully ambidextrous rifle includes a short-stroke gas piston with a two or three-position gas regulator, ensuring consistent performance in all environmental conditions. The two-step enhanced trigger ensures both comfort and shooting accuracy.

Weighing only 2.85 kg, the lightweight ARAD is available with barrel lengths of 292mm (11.5″) and 368mm (14.5″). Additionally, it is offered with barrel lengths of 419mm (16.5″) and 508mm (20″). The 300 BLK version is equipped with a 9.5″ barrel.
