The batch is part of a larger contract and will reinforce the Gereon fleet already deployed in Ukraine. Production is set to increase over the coming months.
The partnership pairs ARX Robotics’ expertise in development, software and system integration with DEUTZ’s industrial manufacturing capacity. The companies are expanding output to meet rising demand for unmanned ground vehicles in Europe and other markets.
“Europe’s armed forces require thousands of unmanned ground systems within a very short timeframe to operate effectively in a modern threat environment,” said Marc Wietfeld, co-founder and CEO of ARX Robotics. “Europe has both the technological innovation and the industrial base to meet that need.”
The companies said land forces are increasingly adopting unmanned systems to expand their capabilities and reduce soldiers’ exposure to high-risk missions. Their production partnership is intended to make those systems available at greater scale.
“Together with DEUTZ, Gereon demonstrates how urgently required systems can be scaled in a short period of time,” Wietfeld said. “We are building the capacities for modern land forces while strengthening Europe’s sovereignty and defence capabilities for the long term.”
DEUTZ is contributing production processes, quality assurance and industrial scaling expertise at Ulm. Marco Herre, CEO of its Defense Business Unit, said the delivery demonstrated the plant’s ability to manufacture complex systems.
“With the delivery of the first Gereon systems, we are demonstrating our ability at our Ulm plant to manufacture complex products quickly, reliably and at scale,” Herre said. “DEUTZ contributes its expertise in efficient production processes, quality assurance and industrial scaling.”
ARX Robotics develops unmanned land vehicles and uses its AI-powered Mithra OS operating system to digitally upgrade existing platforms. The company said its systems form the largest Western-built unmanned ground vehicle fleet currently deployed in Ukraine.
Founded in 2022, ARX Robotics employs 300 people across Munich, Berlin, London and Kyiv. Its systems are also deployed by several European armed forces.
