Marc Wietfeld, Co-Founder and CEO of ARX Robotics, said, “The demand for modular, software-driven defence systems is growing rapidly—and we’re building the company that will define this category in Europe.” He added, “At the core of ARX Robotics is a clear mission: to build the next generation of defence infrastructure through scalable robotics and software.”
ARX Robotics is developing Europe’s leading autonomous ground vehicles (UGVs), the Gereon RCS series, and Mithra OS, an AI-driven system that integrates autonomous and legacy assets. By maintaining a fully European supply chain, the company aims to enhance European defence sovereignty and operational efficiency.
Since its founding in 2022 by Marc Wietfeld, Maximilian Wied, and Stefan Roebel, former German Bundeswehr officers, ARX Robotics has become a major supplier to military forces in Germany, Ukraine, and the UK. Six European military forces currently deploy ARX’s UGVs, and the company has supplied the Ukrainian Military with the largest Western-developed fleet of UGVs.
In a significant milestone, ARX Robotics was recently contracted by the European Defence Agency (EDA) to participate in the first EU-wide defence innovation initiative. The company’s technology has the potential to retrofit over 50,000 NATO vehicles, ensuring that mission-critical assets remain under European control.
Highlighting the partnership, Fabian Gruner, Partner at HV Capital, stated, “ARX is proof that Europe can build internationally relevant defence technology: modern, AI-native, and strategically sovereign.” He added, “Their rapid deployment across Europe is a testament to both the urgency and strength of their product.”
Chris O’Connor, Partner at NATO Innovation Fund, commented, “We are proud of the tremendous progress the ARX Robotics team has made over the previous year, including growing their suite of products to address the legacy ground fleet, expanding geographic reach and building a world class team.” He further noted, “ARX Robotics has fielded the largest Western UGV fleet to Ukraine and we look forward to continuing to support the company as it expands its reach across NATO nations.”
The fresh funding will allow ARX Robotics to scale its autonomous mobile robotics production by five times in 2025 and expand its European presence. The company also plans to invest in top-tier European AI talent and further enhance its Mithra OS as the backbone of autonomous defence.
In recent developments, ARX Robotics announced its expansion into the UK with a new headquarters and a planned production facility. The company has also entered a strategic partnership with Daimler Truck to develop next-generation military vehicles.
ARX Robotics’ approach combines software-enabled hardware and modular platform structures through its ARX Robotic Framework. Its Mithra OS system allows legacy military vehicles to be digitally transformed into intelligent, AI-connected units, boosting situational awareness and operational performance.
The company’s technologies are already in active use across European armed forces and Ukraine, demonstrating ARX Robotics’ vital contribution to Europe’s strategic defence autonomy. With the support of its investors and partners, ARX Robotics is positioned to lead the future of mobile defence robotics in Europe.
