ASELSAN awarded USD 616 million super incentive to boost Steel Dome air defence production

By Defence Industry Europe

Türkiye’s leading defence technology company, ASELSAN, has been awarded a Project-Based Investment Incentive worth USD 616 million to support its work on radar, sensor, smart munitions, and air defence technologies. The funding, also referred to as a “Super Incentive,” was granted by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Industry and Technology.

The announcement was made during the launch of the “2030 Industrial and Technology Strategy and Large-Scale Investments” event, held under the patronage of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. ASELSAN stated the incentive will accelerate three major investments that aim to enhance national independence in advanced technology and defence.

The projects covered include the Photon Detector and Nanotechnology Facility, the Radar System Integration and Production Facility, and the Air Defence Systems Production and Test Facility, which also encompasses smart munition production. These investments are expected to create 2,244 jobs, of which 1,672 will be qualified technical positions.

With this initiative, ASELSAN will significantly boost its high-volume serial production capabilities in critical technologies with high export value per kilogramme, well above Türkiye’s defence sector average. New R&D infrastructures will also be developed to support ongoing innovation and competitiveness in global markets.

The facilities will focus on producing core components for the Steel Dome system—an integrated air defence solution vital to Türkiye’s national security. This will enable faster response to rising international demand and strengthen ASELSAN’s position as a key exporter.

The Super Incentive package includes various forms of government support, such as R&D grants, insurance premium assistance, and funding for qualified personnel. Collaboration with TÜBİTAK and affiliated research institutes is also part of the broader development strategy.
