Azerbaijan orders C-27J Spartan aicraft from Leonardo

Italy and Azerbaijan have further strengthened their commercial collaboration with the signing of a contract for the supply of the C-27J Spartan aircraft. The contract was signed in Italy in the presence of representatives from the Defence Ministers of both countries, highlighting the significance of this agreement.

While the collaboration between Italy and Azerbaijan initially focused on the energy sectors, it has now expanded to include defence industry products, thanks to the support of the Italian Ministry of Defence working group. The purchase of the C-27J Spartan from Leonardo, a renowned tactical transport aircraft with a proven track record in challenging operational scenarios, was finalized through technical discussions between the Italian and Azeri Ministries of Defence.



This contract is part of Azerbaijan’s extensive modernization program for its Armed Forces, as they increasingly turn to the products of the Italian industry. The C-27J Spartan, deployed in demanding geographic and environmental conditions, is capable of fulfilling a wide range of defence and civil protection missions.

With its extensive experience and operational history with various air forces worldwide, the C-27J Spartan is an ideal aircraft for military transport missions, airdrops of paratroopers and supplies, tactical troop support, special forces operations, as well as humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts.
