BAE Systems has been awarded two U.S. Navy contracts totaling $98 million to carry out planned modernization and maintenance work on USS Kansas City (LCS 22) and USS Stockdale (DDG 106) at its San Diego shipyard. “Our team looks forward to executing the scheduled maintenance work aboard the Kansas City and Stockdale,” said Eric Icke, vice president and general manager of BAE Systems Maritime Solutions San Diego. “Working alongside Navy personnel and our subcontractor teammates, our shipyard team will apply our Navy ship repair expertise to ensure both ships return to the fleet capable to fulfill our nation’s requirements.”

Under the $37 million DSRA contract for USS Kansas City, the 2,550-ton Independence-class littoral combat ship will be drydocked beginning in May 2026. The work scope includes underwater hull preservation, upgrades to onboard ship systems, and refurbishment of living spaces for the ship’s 41 crewmembers.

USS Stockdale will undergo maintenance starting in May 2026 under a separate $61 million DSRA contract at the same Southern California shipyard. Planned work on the 9,200-ton Arleigh Burke-class destroyer includes underwater hull preservation, reconditioning of the superstructure, refurbishment of interior fuel and ballast tanks, and upgrades to crew living spaces.
