According to BlackSky, Gen-3 combines hourly revisit, very high-resolution imagery and AI-enabled outputs designed to give defence and intelligence organisations the ability to observe, react and adapt in near real time. The system delivers what the company describes as speed, detail and agility that support operational decision making.
BlackSky said its next-generation constellation offers 35 cm imagery with NIIRS-5+ clarity, multiple daily passes over key areas and intelligence delivery in as little as 60 minutes after collection based on 16 satellites in orbit. It also noted that the expanded capacity increases opportunities for rapid tasking during operationally critical periods.
The company explained that Gen-3 imagery supports automated detection and classification of more than 35 types of tactical objects to help accelerate analyst workflows. It added that the resolution enables improved AI-driven identification of vehicles, aircraft, vessels and other objects relevant to intelligence and surveillance missions.
BlackSky stated that it is continuing to grow the Gen-3 constellation through regular launches. Each new satellite is designed to increase revisit rates, expand capacity and give customers flexibility to adjust their operations to real-time mission demands.
