Boeing advances F-15EX Eagle II production with completion of second lot’s first aircraft

By Defence Industry Europe

On December 16, Boeing announced the completion of the first F-15EX Eagle II fighter jet from the second production lot. The aircraft, designated EX-09, has been moved from Boeing's final assembly line to the testing facility at St. Louis International Airport for trials and verification.

To date, Boeing has delivered eight F-15EX Eagle II aircraft as part of the first production lot. Six of these jets are currently based at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, where they are undergoing developmental testing, experimentation, and training operations.

The remaining two aircraft, EX-07 and EX-08, have been delivered to the Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Wing. This unit is the first operational formation to receive the F-15EX and transition to its use.

Boeing is actively producing 48 additional F-15EX aircraft as part of orders secured under three subsequent production lots for the United States Department of Defense. Concurrently, Boeing continues production of the F-15QA Ababil variant for other international customers.

Israel has placed an order for 25 F-15EX aircraft through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme. Additionally, reports suggest Indonesia is in discussions to procure 24 units, with a final decision anticipated in the near future.

Boeing is currently negotiating with the U.S. Department of Defense for additional production contracts, with demand projected at a minimum of 108 more F-15EX units. The company is also marketing the aircraft to potential new customers, including Saudi Arabia and Poland.
