Deliveries of the Block II configuration began in June 2024. The first three helicopters were assigned to a battalion of the 101st Airborne Division for testing and operational trials.
These trials have concluded with positive results, although no long-term agreement has yet been signed for the upgrade and remanufacture of the existing Chinook fleet.

In addition to the U.S. deliveries, Boeing is also progressing with production linked to export contracts. The CH-47F Chinook Block II has already been ordered by the United Kingdom, the Federal Republic of Germany, and Japan.
Work is also ongoing on deliveries of the MH-47G Chinook Block II variant for U.S. Special Operations Forces. According to Boeing, “Block II provides the U.S. Army and allied nations with increased lift, range and survivability.”
The U.S. Department of Defense plans to upgrade its fleet of approximately 465 CH-47F Chinook Block I helicopters to the Block II standard. The upgraded design is also actively being offered on the international market.
