The German Armed Forces will introduce 84 RCH 155 wheeled howitzers manufactured by KNDS Deutschland. The procurement is based on a framework agreement between the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support and ARTEC covering up to 500 systems that may also be acquired by other nations.

The order includes training equipment, service and logistical support, with a total value of around €1.2 billion. The RCH 155 combines the firepower and range of the unmanned, fully automated and remote-controlled artillery gun module with the protection and mobility of the combat-proven BOXER wheeled armoured vehicle.

The system is the only one worldwide capable of conducting combat while moving and represents a further development of the PzH 2000. It will equip the newly established Medium Forces and serve as the primary artillery weapon system for this new category within the German Army.
