Canada orders Saab’s Carl-Gustaf M4 weapon system to boost land forces capability

Swedish defence company Saab has signed a contract with the Government of Canada to deliver the Carl-Gustaf M4 man-portable, multi-role weapon system. The agreement includes both the Carl-Gustaf M4 weapon and the Fire Control Device (FCD) 558.

 

This acquisition marks another step in the long-standing relationship between Saab and Canada. With this order, Canada becomes one of the growing number of countries adopting the latest generation of the Carl-Gustaf system.

Simon Carroll, President of Saab Canada, stated: “This order is a clear example of Saab’s modern, combat-proven capability being in demand by our customers around the world.” He added: “Canada is an important customer for Saab, and we are proud to continue supporting the Canadian Armed Forces with systems that enhance their operational effectiveness.”

 

 

The Carl-Gustaf system is currently used by more than 40 countries worldwide. The M4 variant features a lightweight design, integrated electronics, and compatibility with future intelligent sighting systems and programmable ammunition.

Designed to meet a wide range of battlefield challenges, the Carl-Gustaf M4 allows soldiers to respond effectively to threats including armoured vehicles, fortified structures, and enemy personnel. Its adaptability and ease of use make it a trusted and modern solution for today’s armed forces.
