The event aimed to improve communication between the DLA and Air Force to provide the best support possible for both critical platforms, in line with the Defence Department’s focus on delivering warfighter readiness and achieving strategic deterrence. DLA Land and Maritime supports about 33,000 parts for the B-1B Lancer and nearly 26,000 parts for the B-2 Spirit.
Support from DLA Land and Maritime and Aviation teams recently enabled a successful overseas operation. “I want to personally thank the team… for all the prioritised efforts that took place to make that happen,” said Autumn Hutchison, director of logistics for the AFLCMC Bombers Directorate.
During the two-day programme, DLA Maritime Supplier Operations and DLA Land Supplier Operations gave briefings on procurement and demand forecasting. The DLA Land and Maritime Analytics Team discussed demand-planning models, forecasting methods and supply support requests, while both bomber programme offices outlined supply landscapes, maintenance cycles, sustainment strategies and funding matters.
Rick “Rainman” Ingram, fleet management and product support integrator for the AFLCMC B-2 Division, thanked the team “for coming together to discuss risks and tackle issues for both platforms”. He confirmed the creation of after-action items to improve future sustainment efforts.
DLA Land and Maritime Commander Navy Rear Adm. Julie Treanor attended the second day and expressed gratitude to the AFLCMC Bombers Directorate for its ongoing collaboration. Owing to the event’s success, the AFLCMC Bombers Directorate plans to make it an annual meeting.
