Denmark has requested two hundred AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM missiles and three AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM guidance sections, together with control sections, containers, support equipment, and related logistics items. The package also includes spare parts, consumables, software, technical documentation, transportation support, and U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics assistance.
According to the DSCA, the sale supports United States foreign policy aims by strengthening a NATO Ally viewed as a contributor to political stability and economic progress in Europe. The agency said the proposed transfer will “support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a NATO Ally that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe”.
Washington stated that the sale will enhance Denmark’s ability to address present and future threats by providing modern air-to-air munitions. The DSCA added that Denmark will “have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces”.
The agency also noted that the sale will improve interoperability between the Danish Air Force, U.S. Joint Forces, and other NATO partners. It confirmed that the proposed transfer “will not alter the basic military balance in the region”.
RTX Corporation has been named as the principal contractor for the potential deal.
