The planned hub will enhance Diehl Defence’s ability to provide timely maintenance services to regional customers. Latvia and Estonia already operate the IRIS-T SLM ground-based air defence system, while a German Armed Forces brigade is being established in Lithuania, increasing demand for localised support.
By partnering with Ripo Remonta Centrs, Diehl Defence aims to leverage local expertise in maintenance and repair activities. The location in Latvia is expected to enable efficient logistical access to customers across the Baltic States, strengthening operational readiness and support capabilities.
The project forms part of Diehl Defence’s broader life cycle management strategy, which includes involving local industry partners in supporting systems deployed outside Germany. This approach is designed to ensure long-term reliability and responsiveness for customers operating its air defence solutions.
The Latvia-based hub will complement existing maintenance and repair facilities in northern and southern Germany, which currently support other European customers. Diehl Defence indicated that additional service locations could be considered in the future, depending on demand from further international customers.
