President Donald Trump said the U.S. used a secret weapon called “The Discombobulator” that helped disable Venezuelan equipment during the January 3 raid in Caracas that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro. Trump made the comments in an interview with the New York Post, saying, “The Discombobulator. I’m not allowed to talk about it.”

Trump said the device caused opposing systems to stop working as U.S. forces moved in, claiming, “They never got their rockets off. They had Russian and Chinese rockets, and they never got one off. We came in, they pressed buttons and nothing worked. They were all set for us.”

The president’s remarks came as part of broader comments on U.S. military operations, in which he suggested continuing strikes against drug cartels and said that American operations had included disabling much of Caracas’s electrical grid.

Details about the so-called Discombobulator remain unclear, and the White House did not provide independent confirmation of the weapon’s existence or technical capabilities
