U.S. defence technology firm Echodyne has entered into a collaboration with Poland’s Military Institute of Armored and Automotive Technology (WITPiS) to explore the integration of counter-drone radar systems into unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs). The partnership marks a significant step in Echodyne’s expansion into the Polish defence sector, strengthening its regional presence through practical applications of its radar technology.

Working alongside its long-standing Polish distributor, Linc Polska, Echodyne aims to test and demonstrate how its C-UAS radar systems can enhance situational awareness and detection capabilities in WITPiS-developed UGVs. The joint effort will evaluate both civil and military applications, focusing on the added value radar-enabled vehicles bring to modern defence strategies.

“The Military Institute of Armored and Automotive Technology brings critical expertise to our collaboration to deliver best-in-class ground-based systems for detection and situational awareness,” said Eben Frankenberg, CEO of Echodyne. “As Allied militaries increasingly put the spotlight on modernizing their land force capabilities, Echodyne looks forward to continuing to demonstrate how our MESA radars provide the highest performance for on-the-move threat detection, and integration into larger counter-UAS and defense systems.”

Echodyne’s MESA radar systems use advanced 4D metamaterials electronically scanned array technology to provide accurate tracking for fixed, mobile, and portable C-UAS missions. Their systems are designed to deliver high-fidelity situational data, crucial for identifying and tracking drone threats with precision in dynamic environments.
