The MoUs will see EDGE and 4iG SDT jointly develop, localise, and market cutting-edge defence systems, including the SKYKNIGHT air defence missile system, SHADOW 25 and SHADOW 50 loitering munitions, and the VEGA and ORION unmanned air traffic control solutions. The collaboration supports EDGE’s strategic expansion into NATO member states and enables both companies to leverage their regional networks—EDGE in Africa and 4iG SDT in Central and Eastern Europe.
“Our goal with partners such as 4iG SDT is to aid nations in developing and achieving advanced sovereign defence technology and industrial capabilities,” said Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE. “This collaboration strengthens EDGE’s ability to deliver competitive, NATO-compatible, and export-ready solutions, not only in support of Hungary’s national objectives, but also as a gateway to deeper engagement across Europe and NATO member states.”
The first agreement outlines a wide-ranging technological partnership for co-development and market exploration of next-generation unmanned aerial systems (UASs), counter-UAS solutions, and space technologies across Central and Eastern Europe and Africa. It also includes provisions for the possible formation of a joint venture.
The second agreement centres on the potential development and production of EDGE’s SKYKNIGHT inner-layer air defence missile system and SHADOW loitering munitions within Hungary. This aligns with Hungary’s ambition to expand its domestic defence capabilities and contribute to regional security efforts.
Under the third MoU, EDGE and 4iG SDT will offer VEGA uncrewed traffic management and ORION drone fleet management systems to the European market, with plans to jointly develop further air traffic control technologies. The agreement also involves the evaluation of a European joint venture to act as a development and sales hub for these systems.
“The agreements signed today mark a milestone in 4iG SDT international defence industry efforts,” stated István Sárhegyi, CEO of 4iG SDT. “Through this partnership with one of the world’s fastest-growing defence technology companies, we can develop systems with strong potential for success in both European and African markets on a mutual basis.”
This latest step builds upon a previous MoU signed earlier this year between EDGE and 4iG SDT for cooperation on UAS and space technologies. The new agreements reinforce EDGE’s commitment to strengthening its role in European defence ecosystems and delivering solutions that meet the operational and technological standards of NATO members.
