Elbit Systems has launched Frontier, a new wide-area persistent surveillance system designed to meet growing border defence challenges. The system was presented for the first time at the DSEI 2025 exhibition.

Frontier is built to autonomously detect, classify and assess threats in real time, while reducing the workload on operators. It uses advanced artificial intelligence to optimise intelligence gathering and support decision-making across land, air and maritime domains.

The company said Frontier is designed to address the increasing demands on intelligence teams, which are tasked with monitoring thousands of alerts and large volumes of data simultaneously. These requirements often consume significant resources and risk potential errors, Elbit Systems noted.

Among its key features, Frontier employs “AI Based Adaptive Routine Learning” to continuously learn and adapt to routine operations. It also provides “Autonomous Threat Classification” and “Smart Decision-Making Support” to deliver fast responses and clear, actionable insights.

The system integrates data from multiple sensors, turning what the company described as “data overflow into a coherent understanding of the perimeter.” By transmitting only the most relevant analysed information, Frontier aims to improve efficiency while lowering operational costs.

Elbit Systems said the new solution “reduces the workload on operating teams, reduces operational costs, and enhances mission success rates.”
