The project, named “Future Short-Range Air to Air Missile” (FSRM), aims to develop concepts and operational requirements for a Short-Range Air to Air Missile (SRAAM) that can effectively counter modern 5th generation and future 6th generation combat aircraft and airborne threats. The project will follow a six-pillar approach until 2030.
Five EU member states are participating in the project: Germany, Spain, Italy, Hungary, and Sweden.
