Five complete consoles have been designed, produced, and delivered since 2014, with construction of the sixth set to begin in 2026 and commissioning expected in 2027. The systems are built around Opsys, Exail’s integrated computer that acts as the intelligence core to provide precise, reliable, and scalable control.
Development of each unit requires close to two years of work across electronics, software, mechanical, and integration teams. Exail also delivers full support from integration to onboard commissioning to secure long-term knowledge transfer to its partners.
“Building a steering console is both a technological and human challenge. Each delivery demonstrates the excellence of our expertise and the dedication of our teams,” says Mohammed Tounsi, Product Manager. “In July 2025, the fourth pilot station was successfully commissioned. The teams validated all interfaces with the submarine’s other systems, confirming the robustness and reliability of the solution.”
With 15 pilot stations already operating worldwide, Exail maintains its position as a trusted supplier to international navies. The company notes that by unifying navigation, propulsion, and control systems through the Opsys core, its consoles support mission safety, tactical performance, and long-term naval autonomy.
