F-15E fighters deployed with new APKWS rocket loadout for anti-drone missions in CENTCOM region

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) has confirmed the deployment of F-15E Strike Eagles equipped with a new anti-drone rocket loadout in the Middle East. A recently released photograph shows an operational F-15E carrying six LAU-131A/A rocket launchers configured for drone-hunting missions.

This development follows earlier sightings of similar loadouts during testing at Eglin Air Force Base. The loadout comprises six LAU-131A/A pods, each capable of holding seven AGR-20 APKWS II (Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II) laser-guided rockets, making a total of 42 rockets.

“The U.S. Command has just shared an image showing one of the F-15Es deployed to the Middle East carrying six LAU-131 pods for a total of 42 AGR-20 APKWS II laser guided rockets,” the source confirmed. This marks the first visual confirmation of the configuration in the CENTCOM Area of Responsibility (AOR).

In addition to the rocket launchers, the aircraft is also seen armed with four AIM-9X and four AIM-120C/D air-to-air missiles. The combination highlights a dual-role capability for both counter-drone and air-to-air engagements.

The LAU-131A/A is an extended version of the standard LAU-131A launcher. Its ability to carry seven precision-guided rockets provides a significant enhancement to the F-15E’s versatility in asymmetric threat environments.
