Franco-German industry collaboration: ARQUUS and Daimler Truck team up for next-gen military vehicles

By Defence Industry Europe

German commercial vehicle manufacturer Daimler Truck and French military vehicle producer ARQUUS have agreed to cooperate closely on specific defence projects. Their strategic partnership aims to jointly develop, produce, sell, and service military wheeled vehicles tailored to defence sector needs.

The collaboration focuses particularly on supporting the future modernisation of the French Army’s logistics truck fleet. Both companies will combine their technical expertise and capabilities across their operations in France and Germany.

“This partnership will take us forward together,” said Emmanuel Levacher, CEO of ARQUUS. “Both companies know the needs of armed forces inside out and will also benefit from each other’s many years of experience. This will have a positive impact on joint vehicle development, synergies in the area of production expertise and optimized service for our customers.”

Daimler Truck’s Head of Defence Sales, Daniel Zittel, highlighted the alignment between the companies’ operations and goals. “I am delighted about the partnership with ARQUUS, a company that has a lot of experience and expertise in the field of military commercial vehicles. What goes well together grows together here: Our companies have been producing in France and Germany for a long time, our products are highly compatible, our approaches, ideas and goals in the defence sector overlap. Now we are combining our strengths with regard to military commercial vehicles and, in close cooperation, we want to make a decisive contribution to the defence readiness of our two countries.”

ARQUUS manufactures exclusively in France, with production sites in Garchizy and Limoges, while its headquarters is located in Versailles. Daimler Truck assembles its defence vehicles in Wörth am Rhein in Germany and in Molsheim, Alsace, where it is part of Daimler Truck’s wider industrial operations in France employing over 3,000 people.

The Franco-German collaboration is expected to further strengthen these production locations in both countries. It reflects a shared commitment to meeting the evolving operational requirements of military customers.
