Production is being carried out under license from Rheinmetall at the historic Trubia factory in Asturias. The site holds a legacy of over 200 years in barrel manufacturing, reaffirming its role as a cornerstone of national industrial capacity.
GDELS–SBS highlighted that the move revitalises “a key industrial capability” in Spain. The resumption of production responds to “growing demand for barrel manufacture, driven by evolving battlefield requirements and the strategic need for national defence autonomy.”
The company’s announcement underscores Spain’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its sovereign defence production base. This development is seen as a proactive step towards meeting current and future operational needs of the Spanish Army.
