The new artillery system is described by GDELS as an innovation in tracked armoured artillery. It is expected to demonstrate advanced capabilities designed to meet modern military mobility requirements. This presentation highlights GDELS’ continued commitment to providing military solutions that align with the needs of the Spanish Armed Forces.
FEINDEF, running from May 12th to 14th, is Spain’s leading defence and security exhibition, attracting both domestic and international attention. As a company headquartered in Madrid, GDELS and its local subsidiary, Santa Bárbara Sistemas, are taking this opportunity to present their latest developments and proven technologies.
Also on display for the first time at a public event will be the PIRANHA Advanced Artillery Carrier (AAC). This system integrates the PIRANHA HMC 10×10 platform with the 155 mm / L52 Artillery Gun Module (AGM) from KNDS. The combination aims to provide a balance of firepower and mobility.
The PIRANHA AAC features a multi-link platform with four steerable axles, offering high mobility on various terrains and a turning circle of 18 meters. Its artillery capabilities include 360° azimuth, “shoot & scoot” functionality, firing on the move, Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact (MRSI), direct targeting, and the ability to engage moving targets.
GDELS’ presence at FEINDEF reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to support the Spanish Armed Forces and contribute to the defence industrial strategy defined by the Spanish Government. The focus on localised production and integration is exemplified by projects such as the Spanish VCR 8×8 DRAGÓN programme.
