GDIT secures $396 million contract to support U.S. Special Operations Forces

By Defence Industry Europe

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics, has been awarded a $396 million Information Technology Enterprise contract to support elements of the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM). The contract, awarded in April, includes a one-year base period and four option years.

GDIT will deliver a full range of enterprise IT services designed to support Special Operations Forces (SOF) operating in fast-paced and often remote environments. These services aim to improve the rapid transfer, communication, and sharing of operational and intelligence data.

“Modern warfare is constantly evolving and enhancing SOF’s digital capabilities is critical to mission success,” said Brian Sheridan, GDIT’s senior vice president for Defense. “We look forward to delivering a cutting-edge IT network that ensures our elite military units are connected to the intelligence they need to stay ahead in every mission.”

As part of the contract, GDIT will use its artificial intelligence capabilities to improve operational effectiveness and decision-making. The company will also transition SOF operations to a multi-cloud environment and implement advanced zero trust cybersecurity solutions.

This new award strengthens GDIT’s ongoing relationship with SOCOM and expands its support of U.S. combatant commands. In recent years, GDIT has also provided mission services to SOCOM, digital modernisation for the U.S. Central Command, and cybersecurity support for the U.S. Southern Command.

GDIT is part of General Dynamics, a global aerospace and defence company with a diverse portfolio that includes business aviation, shipbuilding, land combat systems, and advanced technologies. General Dynamics employs over 110,000 people worldwide and reported $47.7 billion in revenue in 2024.
