The award is a five-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contract expected to total approximately $22 million over its period of performance. It covers the delivery of more than 5,000 helmet systems and associated spares to support fleet-wide fielding across Navy fixed wing aircraft.
Platforms supported under the contract include the E-2D, F/A-18, E/A-18G, T-45, T-6, and the in-development Undergraduate Jet Training System. The effort is being executed under PMA-202’s Helmet Mask Regulator program and includes both Low-Rate Initial Production and Full-Rate Production.
“This contract award from the US Navy is a significant milestone for Gentex and demonstrates our unwavering commitment to advancing the world’s most innovative protection solutions for warfighters,” said Robert McCay, Vice President of Aircrew Systems at Gentex Corporation. “The PURSUIT system delivers meaningful advancements in aircrew safety, comfort, and mission performance, ensuring Naval Aviators and Naval Flight Officers are equipped with technology that keeps pace with the rapidly evolving demands of modern aviation.”
The Navy’s selection reflects the PURSUIT Helmet System’s performance, enhanced safety features, and modern architecture designed to support emerging mission requirements. The system addresses long-standing aircrew concerns such as neck strain caused by poorly balanced helmets and increased injury risk during ejection.
PURSUIT features a modular, lightweight design with an optimized center of gravity and supports advanced helmet-mounted display and night vision goggle integration while ensuring 600 KEAS protection. Developed through collaboration with U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, industry partners, and international stakeholders, the helmet aligns with next-generation performance requirements and signals readiness for broader adoption across U.S. and allied air forces.
