By Defence Industry Europe

Germany is preparing more than 60 military procurement orders for parliamentary approval by the end of 2025. The move forms part of Berlin’s broader strategy to transform the Bundeswehr into Europe’s strongest conventional army.

According to Bloomberg, the planned orders include the purchase of 20 Eurofighter jets from Airbus. The government also intends to acquire up to 5,000 Boxer armoured vehicles from Rheinmetall and at least 3,500 Patria Oyj armoured vehicles.

Defence Minister Boris Pistorius briefed lawmakers on Monday regarding the government’s key military priorities. Discussions remain confidential, with Bloomberg citing sources familiar with the matter who requested anonymity.

The German cabinet is expected to adopt its medium-term financial framework on Wednesday. Under the plan, Germany’s annual defence budget could more than double to as much as €162 billion ($189 billion) over the next four years.
