Germany to order 18 Leopard 2 main battle tanks

Germany is set to purchase 18 Leopard 2 tanks for 525 million euros, according to a defence source cited by Reuters.

The purchase also includes an option for another 105 tanks, bringing the total price to 2.9 billion euros.

The tanks will be used to replace those that were delivered to Ukraine.

The deal is expected to be signed off by the German parliament’s budget committee at the end of May.

The German finance ministry has not yet commented on the matter.
