The Aerospace, Security, and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD) has announced new leadership appointments. Guillaume Faury, the CEO of Airbus, has been appointed as the President and Chairman of the ASD Board. Additionally, Micael Johansson, the President and CEO of Saab, has been elected as the Vice-Chairman of the ASD Board.

Guillaume Faury was appointed President and Chairman of the ASD Board by the Association’s General Assembly in May and will also serve as Chairman of the ASD Board. He takes over from Alessandro Profumo, former CEO of Leonardo, for a tenure of two years.

“Europe is facing the twin challenges of decarbonisation and digital transition while at the same time navigating a dramatically changed security landscape. Europe’s response to these challenges has the potential to shape our industry for decades to come. ASD’s diverse range of members, drawn from countries right across the continent, provide the state-of-the-art technologies needed to both connect and protect people while bringing us closer to a decarbonised economy,” said Guillaume Faury. “At ASD, we have a vital role to play by encouraging European cooperation and advocating for policy frameworks that shape a competitive European business environment,” added new President and Chairman of the ASD.

Moreover, Micael Johansson, the President and CEO of Saab, has been elected as the new Vice-Chairman of the ASD Board.

“ASD is pleased to welcome Guillaume Faury as its new President and Chairman of the Board and Micael Johansson as the new Vice-Chairman of the Board. Both are at the helm of global industrial champions and know in detail the challenges our members face at the national, European and global level.
