South Korean defence company Hanwha Aerospace will present its integrated air and missile defence capabilities at the Brussels European Defence Exhibition (BEDEX) 2026. The event will take place from 12 to 14 March in Brussels, Belgium, as the company seeks to strengthen its presence in the European defence market.

Hanwha said the exhibition will highlight its ability to deliver layered air defence solutions and advanced ground firepower systems. The company aims to build on partnerships previously established with NATO member states through programmes such as the export of the K9 self-propelled howitzer.

A central element of Hanwha’s display will be the L-SAM long-range surface-to-air missile system. Designed to intercept ballistic missiles during the upper tier of the terminal phase at altitudes above 40 kilometres, the system employs hit-to-kill technology that destroys targets through direct kinetic impact.

According to the company, this interception method offers greater precision and effectiveness compared with traditional blast-fragmentation systems. Development of the L-SAM was completed in 2024 and the system entered mass production in the following year.

Hanwha Aerospace will present both the L-SAM anti-ballistic missile and its launcher at the exhibition. Hanwha Systems will also display the system’s multi-function radar, capable of simultaneously detecting and tracking ballistic missiles and aircraft.

The company will further demonstrate its layered air defence concept by exhibiting stationary and mobile laser weapon systems. These technologies are designed to complement missile defences by addressing short-range threats within a broader integrated defence network.

Hanwha Aerospace will also introduce the Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher system to the Western European market during the event. The wheeled launcher is designed to fire a range of guided munitions with different engagement ranges and mission profiles.

The system’s operator base within NATO has expanded in recent years, including Poland, Estonia and Norway. At BEDEX 2026, the Chunmoo launcher will be presented together with four types of guided missiles designed for different operational requirements.

A Hanwha representative said the company intends to use the exhibition to deepen cooperation with European partners. “Through BEDEX 2026, we aim to demonstrate the full spectrum of Hanwha’s air defense and ground firepower capabilities to the European market and to actively explore partnerships that contribute to the defense readiness of NATO member states.”
