The contract includes the delivery of chassis and powerpacks for the Krab artillery systems, which will be supplied between 2026 and 2028. These systems are a crucial part of Poland’s artillery capabilities, based on the 155mm/52-calibre Krab howitzer, developed and produced domestically by HSW with Hanwha’s support.
A signing ceremony was held at HSW’s headquarters in Stalowa Wola, attended by senior executives from both sides, including Hanwha Aerospace President and CEO Mr Jaeil Son and HSW’s President Mr Wojciech Kędziera. The agreement marks the third such contract between the companies since their initial collaboration began in 2014.
“About a decade ago, we began our journey together with the first KRAB program,” said Mr Son. “The success of those 120 units demonstrated not only the integration of technologies from both sides but also became the cornerstone of an ironclad relationship between our two nations.”
Mr Son further expressed Hanwha’s continued commitment to the Polish defence sector, adding, “Hanwha Aerospace will stand by HSW for the freedom of our countries, leveraging HSW’s world-class facilities and engineering expertise.” This reflects the company’s focus on both timely delivery and local industrial cooperation.
The Krab program has become a symbol of successful international defence collaboration, integrating South Korean technology with Polish manufacturing capacity. With this new contract, Hanwha Aerospace reinforces its ambition to remain “the most trusted partner for the security and defence of Poland.”
